Music
Welcome to Churchfields Infants' School Music page
My name is Miss Lowery and I am the Music Champion at Churchfields Infants' School.
Our Music curriculum aims to provide pupils with a high-quality music education which engages and inspires children to develop a lifelong love of music. This begins from the moment they join us in Nursery to the time when they move on from Year 2.
Music is an essential part of life at Churchfields Infants' School. Each of the Music lessons are carefully crafted to enable children to make excellent progress and achieve their full potential. Not only do lessons cover the National Curriculum in detail, but Music is woven into all parts of life at school. Examples of this include: outdoor instruments that can be used at playtime, daily singing opportunities in Assembly, performances from professional musicians, visits to concerts in central London locations, such as the Barbican, and even the staff choir singing at the local Nursing home.
By the end of their time with us, the children will have had the opportunity to use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes. They will have been able to play tuned and untuned instruments musically and will have listened with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music. In addition to this, the children will have been able to experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the interrelated dimensions of music.
As a result of their Music education at Churchfields Infants' School, children will have been able to learn and grow in their understanding. They will leave us, having experienced a tapestry of memorable experiences, with an excitement to discover even more.
