Pond Dipping
On Wednesday Mrs Hinkley took 30 Year 2 children pond dipping in Ray Park.
Did you know the park was home to a historic walled garden? In the walled garden we looked at the fire pit, mini-orchard, meadow habitat, vegetable patch, bird feeding station, and of course, the pond. All the children had the opportunity to use the net and participated in pond dipping. We used the identification sheets to help us record the pond creatures we found. The children also learned about food chains in a pond habitat. After a picnic lunch, we had some fun in the play park!
Outdoor learning and play can help to motivate and stimulate children's minds and positively contribute to children's health and wellbeing.
