Hero Day!
Wow! We have been so inspired by the wide range of heroes who came to school today. As you know we place huge emphasis on our values as part of our wider curriculum and today has provided the opportunity for our children and staff to consider values such as resilience, cooperation, care, kindness and respect, to name a few. Children have been able to explain which adults help us and keep us safe in our community, have remembered prior learning by recalling key people or events from our curriculum and have even begun to explore what contributions they would like to make to our world in the future.
Please see a selection of our 'Churchfields Heroes' and discuss with your child how they have been inspired today.
Mrs Anderson chose Simone Biles as an inspirational athlete who, despite, having difficulties during the Rio Olympic games, showed resilience and came back stronger to win a number of medals at the recent Gymnastic World Championships.
Mrs Beck chose Cleopatra as a hugely influential and strong female leader. She was not only a Queen but also a mathematician, linguist (speaking 5 languages fluently) and philosopher. Many of us recognise Cleopatra by her looks and through films made about her but not many know about the person that she was!
The EYFS Understanding The World area and the KS1 history curriculum, both focus on the lives of significant individuals in the past and present. This day provides a wonderful opportunity for all our school community to immerse themselves and share their knowledge.
